I also like this design because it allows the option of a walkway.
and instead of the pressure treated fence coming off the house to the driveway, perhaps I could put horizontal panels across the garage door panels somehow. That would look cool.

This show provided me with the option- instead of rebuilding the retaining wall here, why not move the dirt away from the house and make a mound as a street barrier?
